Spectrum Super Stars May 2019

Congratulations to Girl Scout Troop #16537,  Spectrum Super Stars for May!

Bridgette Mcneal writes: “Troop 16537 started out as a little troop of just five girls in 2015. In fall of 2018 we decided to reach out to the Spectrum Community to let everyone know that Girl Scouts is for girls of ALL abilities, and that if anyone was interested, we would welcome them in to our troop! We quickly grew from five girls to 32 girls and have been having an amazing time this year as a large, multi-level troop. As a troop that supports ALL girls of all abilities, we’ve had many adventures this year. We’ve been camping, visited a police station, participated in the Girl Scout Bake Off, went to World Thinking Day, and most recently participated in Camp Gwinnett Day camp. We’ve been featured on Fox59 news and even been recognized by the Girl Scouts of America CEO! We’re very proud of our community involvement this year. We collected canned goods for the North Georgia Co-Op, we’ve made kitty rugs for Cat Rangers and we even donated a bike to the Salvation Army at Christmas with the rest of our service unit. We also walked in the Buford Christmas Parade! Being active and part of our community is an important part of developing as leaders. We are so proud to be part of supporting Spectrum, an organization that MANY of our troop members receive support and help from. We hope everyone has an awesome time at camp this summer!”

The troop meets the first and third Tuesday of Every Month at the Joann’s store in Duluth. Girl Scouts is for everyone – girls of all abilities are welcome! To find out how to join contact Bridgette McNeal at Bridgette.a.mcneal@gmail.com

Thank you to Bridgette McNeal and Troop # 16537 for all you do to make a difference in our community! During April, in recognition of Autism Awareness month, the troop chose to support Spectrum and have collected all sorts of amazing craft supplies and other needed items for our Spectrum summer camps and even donated Gluten-free cookies! These girls are real stars!
