Spectrum Super Star September 2022

Congratulations to Sonia Lopez, with Asami-Atl, star of the month for September!

Asami-Atl was born in 2006 with the support of the consul general of the consulate of El Salvador in Miami, FL and the big heart of Sonia Lopez. They did several big projects like a 2006 breakfast with the ex-president of El Salvador, Antonio Elias Saca, where they delivered about 10 walkers to children with disabilities. Since then they have hosted health fairs, given out bookbags and school supplies to help the community, provided food for those in need, supported family events in the community and more. In 2016 Sonia began to be a community outreach volunteer in the police department and worked with them for 2 years and in 2018 she made the Asami-Atl organization known in the Atlanta community and began to work for the benefit of the community with the Norcross Lions club where she has been a member for 6 years. She is the president of the Lions Club as well as founder of the first Latino Lions club in the city of Norcross. Sonia is also a member of the public arts board of the city of Norcoss and a member of the board of directors of Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries. When the Covid -19 pandemic began they immediately made contact with the Gwinnett Food Bank and have delivered food and toys at Christmas. Sonia is married and has three children and three grandchildren who are her reason for being, she says!

Spectrum has enjoyed partnering with Asami-Atl on the Norcross Egg Hunt and Spectrum's family fishing day where they provided hot dogs and chips for these big family events. And, we have volunteered together to give out food boxes in Norcross in collaboration with the Gwinnett Food Bank. Sonia is the best example of a person with a servant heart who is making a difference every day in our community! We are grateful for her support!
