Spectrum Super Star November 2017

CONGRATS to this month's Spectrum Super Star!

Studio Movie Grill

We are happy to recognize Studio Movie Grill as our November 2017 Spectrum Super Star of the month!

Spectrum receives generous funds each year from the Chefs for Children as a SMG partner and is happy that so many of our families enjoy a day out at SMG's Duluth and Roswell locations. Look for a new SMG location opening in Marietta this month!  Showings in November include Thor:Ragnarok and Wonder, plus 3 new showings scheduled in December. Check out the full line up at: https://www.studiomoviegrill.com/Movie/Film-Series/Special-Needs-Screenings.

SMG says, Back in 2003, one of our General Managers, raising two children with special needs, let SMG know that he had never seen a movie with his family because he didn’t want his children to disturb other guests and going out as a family was difficult.  It was a light bulb moment for Brian Schultz, our CEO & Founder and others on the team and creating regular special needs screenings seemed like a great way to help the community.  Further realizing that cost was prohibitive for many families dealing with medical bills, the screenings became free for children with special needs and their siblings to bring families together.  Since that time, these screenings have become pillar of SMG’s Outreach and mission to open hearts and minds, one story at a time.   Special Needs Screenings are designed for families raising children with special needs, and scheduled following the release of a new family movie.  These Screenings are shown with the lights up a little and the volume lowered a little to help with sensory overload, and children are free to move around, talk, or even dance in the aisles during the movie.   In addition to the screenings, another cornerstone of SMG’s outreach is the Chefs for Children program, also established when a chef, raising a child with special needs, asked how the kitchen could become involved.  SMG donates proceeds from especially marked menu items to local non-profits serving special needs children and families.

Says Brian of the programs, “Our success is based on making the world a better place and leaving a positive wake in our communities, opening hearts and minds one story at a time. Our special needs screenings and Chefs for Children program are a piece of that mission.”

Thank you Studio Movie Grill for your support of Spectrum and the special needs community!
