SPECTRUM offers several camp settings to fit the varying needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  What makes our camps unique?

·       All of our programs are staffed by teachers and paraprofessionals working in the Autism program for Gwinnett County Public Schools during the school year.

·       Camp programs are designed to meet the needs of children on the Autism Spectrum from ages 4 to 22.

·       Groups range in size from 4-5 children with 2-3 adults for campers requiring more support to groups of 10-12 campers with 2 adults for campers ready to be more independent.

o     Our small groups address a camper's individual behavioral needs, self-help skills and increasing communication skills while providing intense adult support throughout the day.

o     The large group requires a camper to be independent with self-help skills, have the ability to attend and participate in group activities and to verbally communicate their needs.

·       All groups participate in a social skills curriculum designed specifically for our campers.

·       Daily activities include outside play and PE, music therapy, crafts, group games and visits from special guests.

In addition to our Large and Small Group Camps, we are pleased to be offering seven specialty camps this year:

Camp SKIP (Spectrum Kommunity Inclusion Project)

Spectrum's Kommunity Inclusion Project, (SKIP), is a program providing support and training to local camps and churches so that children on the autism spectrum can be included in typical camp or church settings where they can learn crucial social, communication and play skills. Our goal is that all children will learn to work with, play with, respect and value each other, regardless of varying abilities and skills.
Contact Catherine Marstellar at autism30044@yahoo.com if you would like for her to contact a specific camp or church about training.
We offer training sessions at no charge. We also provide free follow-up consultation, up to 2 hours per child with autism, in their programs. (There may be a charge for additional hours.) We also train churches for Vacation Bible School and/or Sunday School.
